The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman
Chapter 1250
Chapter 1250
Swoooosh!
Runaan stepped on silver footwork and pushed off the ground. She instantly moved behind the robed monster and thrust down her sharply split frost sword.
"Heurk!"
The robed monster let out a short scream and turned his body sharply. He deflected Runaan's sword strike by a hair's breadth, then kicked off a tree and jumped far away.
"Really..."
Runaan let out a turbid breath as if she couldn't contain her rising irritation and chased after the robed monster.
She broke through the forest with footwork so fast her vision became blurry, but the robed monster used the terrain appropriately and wasn't caught until the end.
"Stop running and..."
Runaan bit her lips until they bled as she looked at the brown field that spread out as soon as she broke through the forest.
"Just die..."
She shot a sword strike toward the robed monster who was seeping between the reeds with his presence completely killed like a wild animal.
Kwaaaang!
The ground hit by Runaan's sword strike froze pure white, and the reeds that had been swaying in the wind hardened as if time had stopped.
"Keurk!"
The robed monster screamed as he jumped out of the reed field, but still not even a small wound could be seen on his body. It meant he had perfectly avoided even Runaan's wide-range attack.
The robed monster, judging that he could no longer use the terrain, began breaking through the field at full power. He ran across the ground at a speed invisible to the eye, as if he hadn't been going at top speed until now.
"Haa..."
Runaan gritted her teeth and bent her knees, lowering her upper body. Just as she was preparing to step on footwork again to chase the robed monster to the end.
Two people holding swords dropped down in front of Runaan.
"That's enough!"
Martha blocked Runaan's path and shook her head.
"Stop chasing."
She gripped her sword, saying she couldn't tolerate any more personal actions.
"Martha is right."
Burren stood beside Martha and calmly stroked his chin.
"I didn't think I'd ever say that Martha is right, but it's not wrong right now."
He also blocked the path Runaan needed to run, telling her not to chase the robed monster.
"Why...?"
Runaan raised her darkly sunken eyes as if she couldn't understand.
"It's an enemy... And it's Eden..."
She chewed her lips as she looked at the back of the robed monster visible behind Martha and Burren.
"You saw it too..."
Runaan let out a breath filled with killing intent.
"They're all... bastards who must be killed..."
She bared her white teeth, saying that not a single Ghost of Eden should be left alive.
"Right. I agree with that too."
Martha nodded, saying she agreed with Runaan's words.
"Then move aside..."
Runaan gripped her sword tightly enough to make noise, saying she would end it herself.
"No, you still can't."
Martha calmly shook her head even while looking at Runaan's murderous eyes.
"That bastard..."
She pointed to the robed monster who wasn't completely fleeing but was hiding at a distance, catching his breath.
"He's luring you."
Martha frowned, saying the robed Eden executive was luring Runaan.
"I felt it clearly while watching from behind."
Burren let out a low sigh.
"That bastard came all the way here while maintaining a distance where he seemed catchable but wasn't caught by you. He's blatantly drawing you in."
He also glared at the robed monster, saying he had the same thoughts as Martha.
"A lure, you say...."
Runaan clicked her tongue briefly.
"I know... Still... I have to catch him..."
She emitted a chilling energy, saying she would definitely catch that robed monster regardless of whether it was a lure or not.
"I said you can't!"
Martha stomped her foot in irritation. Due to her heightened emotions, a vibration like an earthquake occurred on the ground.
"Do you know what's out there!"
Martha snorted like an angry buffalo.
"The swordsmen who died at the border couldn't even resist and were stabbed from behind, and their bodies were rotting! There might be a martial artist who has reached transcendence or a shaman of similar level!" (E/N: Any slightly stronger nobody can kill the expert level guard though)
She shook her head vigorously, saying they shouldn't leave Zieghart's border.
"I don't care... what's there..."
Runaan parted her brown, dry lips.
"I can... kill them all..."
She raised her sword, showing strong confidence in her own martial prowess.
"Ah, you're being impossible to reason with!"
Martha shouted in frustration, saying she couldn't bear it.
"Runaan."
Burren came forward, placing his hand on Martha's shoulder.
"Our mission isn't the annihilation of Eden, but escorting the Shadow Agents. We just need to protect the Shadow Agents until they finish their investigation, without needing to pursue enemies."
He shook his head while logically stating the correct position.
"Especially since that bastard is openly luring us. We should withdraw here. No, we've already come too far."
Burren rolled his eyes, saying they had gone farther from Zieghart's border than expected.
"I command as Vice Palace Master. The Full Moon Division leader must withdraw immediately and rejoin the formation."
He was no longer making a request as a friend, but giving an order as Vice Palace Master.
"Hmm..."
Runaan frowned while lowering her sword, seemingly unable to ignore Burren's words as he gave orders as Vice Palace Master.
"Now you're finally being reasonable."
Martha shrugged her shoulders.
"Think about not just us, but Raon too."
She sighed, asking what Raon would say if he saw the current situation.
"Raon..."
When Raon's name was mentioned to Runaan, purple and black light bloomed simultaneously in her eyes. Her atmosphere also felt both gloomy and refreshing at the same time.
"Hmm...?"
Martha tilted her head at Runaan's strange change.
Swooosh.
The robed monster who had been far away approached the center of the frozen field and put his hand into his robe.
"Be careful!"
"Don't let your guard down."
Martha and Burren heightened their vigilance and pointed their swords at the robed monster.
However, what the robed monster held in his hand wasn't a weapon, but a flower crown made by connecting various flowers.
The flower crown was crude as if made by a child, and strangely, all the flowers appeared red as they were soaked in blood.
"Flowers?"
"Why a flower crown?"
Martha and Burren widened their eyes at the unexpected object.
"It doesn't seem like an artifact either? Why something like that..."
Martha wrinkled her nose, saying she couldn't understand it no matter how she looked.
"Be careful."
Burren slowly exhaled.
"It might be an object imbued with magic."
He gestured backward, telling them to retreat while being careful.
"Runaan. Retreat as we said earlier. Like this back to Birdnew Village... hmm?"
Burren was telling Runaan to retreat as well.
"Haa..."
Runaan breathed roughly while looking at the flower crown in the robed monster's hand. She seemed to have forgotten Burren's orders and Martha's words as she prepared to rush forward.
"That flower crown..."
Runaan bit her lips tightly while looking at the somewhat crude flower crown.
"He killed them... That bastard... those children too..."
Unprecedented desperation and sorrow began to bloom in her blackened eyes. It was a change that felt like she had become a different person.
"Children? What are you talking about right now!"
Martha looked at Runaan while pointing her sword at the robed monster.
"Snap out of it!"
She grabbed Runaan's shoulders and shook her violently, asking what on earth she was doing.
"Is it magic?"
Burren narrowed his eyes as he observed Runaan's condition.
"No, I didn't feel any mana flow."
He bit his lips, saying the flower crown in the robed monster's hand must be the problem.
"That bastard is playing dirty!"
Martha was spitting out irritation while looking at the robed monster.
Crack!
Runaan roughly knocked away Martha's hand.
"Move aside."
She rarely didn't drag her words and spoke with firm finality.
"Huh...?"
"Ru, Runaan..."
Not only Martha, but Burren also widened his eyes in surprise.
"That flower crown is one I received."
Runaan gritted her teeth, saying she would definitely kill that robed monster.
"I said you can't!"
Martha shook her head, saying she absolutely couldn't let her go.
"I can't either. I can't send a comrade. No, a friend, knowing they'll die."
Burren also couldn't retreat and pressed the ground strongly with the tip of his foot.
"Then I'll go even if I have to fight."
Runaan shook her head, saying she had no intention of retreating. Her eyes also began to redden as if desperate.
"This is really damn troublesome."
Martha gritted her teeth while raising her sword, saying she was getting irritated.
"I'll make you pay for this properly."
She clicked her tongue at Runaan, saying they'd settle this later.
"It turned out as you said, Martha."
Burren chuckled and shook his head at Martha.
"I hope the outcome matches as well."
He raised his sword, saying he'd have nothing more to wish for if only the ending was good.
"......"
Runaan pointed her frost-flowing sword at Burren and Martha as if she had absolutely no intention of retreating.
"Come at me!"
"I thought I could seriously fight Martha, but Runaan? All sorts of things really happen."
Martha and Burren finished their battle preparations and slowly regulated their breathing.
"Don't block me. If you block me, you'll get hurt."
Runaan's entire body was dyed silver as snow poured from the sky and the ground began to freeze pure white. When she seriously unleashed her martial prowess, it seemed she even gained the power to control the weather.
The snowflakes Runaan created seemed to have power greater than sword energy, shattering and freezing the ground with each fall, while the frost blooming from the earth emitted a vicious cold that could even trap the souls of living beings.
She looked down upon Burren and Martha with a terrifying majesty as if she had become a goddess of extreme cold.
When Martha stepped at a right angle with her left foot, lava-like heat erupted from the ground and erased the cold energy Runaan had spread.
"I haven't just been playing around either. It's a bit early, but..."
She exhaled cold breath while lifting her chin.
"I'll break you."
Martha showed a cold smile as if telling her to look forward to it.
"And I'll beat that damn bastard to death too."
She directed murky killing intent toward the robed monster who was enjoying this situation.
"Haa..."
Burren gripped his sword with both hands and exhaled hot breath. The snowflakes and cold energy approaching him split and melted as if cut by his sword. The sharpness, as if a human had transformed into a sword, seemed to split even the air of this field.
"Let's see how far Father's training works."
Burren also emitted an energy that didn't yield an inch to Runaan, who had become a goddess of ice, as if he had confidence.
The energies of Runaan, Martha, and Burren clashed at the center of the field, causing the sky to change into three colors and the earth to begin cracking as if the axis of the world would collapse.
Runaan leaped between Burren and Martha at the moment when the three types of energy clashed and intense sparks shot up. Silk-like threads of frost bloomed from her sword, crushing the space around the two.
Martha and Burren unleashed their respective swords just before Runaan's offensive could touch their skin. Martha's heavy sword strike pushed away the frost, and Burren's sharp blade mercilessly split the cold energy.
The three exchanged murderous sword strikes as if they had encountered mortal enemies, watching for each other's openings.
As the competition between martial artists standing before the wall of transcendence continued, strong winds blew across the field.
In the fierce wind like a north wind, the robe worn by the Eden executive who had lured Runaan to this place was slightly stripped away.
"Aah..."
Not a monster, but a small-statured man wearing a forest wild rabbit helmet, let out a stuffy-nosed voice with a trembling chin.
"Runaan..."
