The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman
Chapter 1391
Chapter 1391
Along with the subtle fragrance of sweet osmanthus that seems to call forth spring, warmth dwells in the once cold sunlight.
The light that wriggled like a living being split apart, and a woman stepped into the forest with elegant steps.
What first caught the Hermit's gaze was the platinum hair flowing like silk from the woman's shoulders.
The mystique of calling forth light on its own, as if finely drawn sunlight was woven with gold thread, matched her transparent skin all too well.
Every time the woman approached the Hermit, her green robe transmitted life and vitality to the withered leaves and bushes. The Hermit swallowed dry saliva at the surreal sight that seemed like she could be the goddess of abundance called the mother of nature.
"You, you are..."
The Hermit's gaze moved past the woman's hair to her ears that pointed sharply upward, unlike humans.
"Of Sepia..."
He trembled his jaw as if recognizing the woman's identity at once.
"That's right."
The woman drew a gentle smile with eyes as clear as a lake reflecting sunlight.
"The current Guardian of Sepia..."
She pointed to herself with an elegant gesture.
"I am the High Elf Siyana."
Siyana revealed her name to the Hermit and bowed politely.
"Ho, how are you here..."
The Hermit bit his lips, saying he didn't even sense Sepia's movement.
"Actually, I should have been hiding behind..."
Siyana curled up the corners of her mouth as she looked at the Hermit's trembling eyes.
"Since there's a parasite disgracing the World Tree, I have no choice but to step forward myself."
She nodded calmly, saying she wasn't detected thanks to the Hermit making his move.
"The, then..."
The Hermit's throat went pale white as if realizing why he was able to flee to this place.
"That's right. Mage Tower Master Larian granted my request."
Siyana raised her long, elegant finger and placed it on her red lips.
"If she hadn't let you go, you would still be dying on the battlefield."
She nodded, saying the Hermit was able to flee to this forest because Mage Tower Master Larian deliberately let him go.
"Kuh..."
Only after hearing Siyana's words did the Hermit realize he had been toyed with in Larian's palm and ground his teeth.
"How dare these bugs!"
He vented his anger not only at Larian but also at Siyana standing before him as he brought his two hands together.
"I am a great being who inherited the power of the World Tree!"
As the Hermit roared and screamed, countless tree roots burst out from beneath his feet and shot toward Siyana. Though they looked weak, each of those roots contained cursed magic that would tear through bone and skin with just a touch.
"I know."
Siyana cut off the Hermit's words and slowly nodded her head.
"That's why I came."
As she raised her finger, the tree roots that had been fiercely rushing forward hardened like stone statues.
Seuuuuu!
As Siyana waved her finger, the hardened tree roots moved on their own to create a path for her to approach the Hermit.
"Im, impossible..."
The Hermit trembled his jaw as he watched the tree roots that had escaped his control.
"I can control all plants with the power of the World Tree! What the hell did you do!"
"The power you possess is not from the World Tree, but merely from an evil tree demon that failed to become the World Tree. On the other hand..."
Siyana sneered toward the Hermit.
"I am the current Guardian of Sepia and the World Tree. It's natural that the trees follow me."
As she then turned her finger, the hardened tree roots returned and pierced into the Hermit's body.
"Kuheheoheuk!"
The Hermit coughed up red blood as he looked at the tree roots that had pierced through his arms, legs, and even his torso.
"Th, this..."
"Isn't it obvious who knights would follow more between the legitimate Successor of the Kingdom and a thief who only stole the kingdom's seal?"
Siyana let out a gentle laugh, saying there was nothing to think about.
"Nonsense!"
The Hermit tried to control the tree roots once more, but they didn't follow his commands as if control had already been taken by Siyana.
"I told you it won't work."
"Shut up!"
He shot out circularly coiled magic toward Siyana who was laughing mockingly.
Woooooong!
The magic the Hermit launched uncoiled just before reaching Siyana and fell as venomous snakes baring sharp fangs.
However, his magic never touched Siyana.
Peobeobeobeobeok!
The tree roots the Hermit had summoned moved on their own to block all the magic falling toward Siyana. It looked as if nature itself was moving to protect her.
"Ahh..."
The Hermit trembled his jaw as if it was absurd and stepped back. However, since his entire body was pierced by tree roots, he couldn't go far.
"Earlier you said you could keep reviving because you inherited the power of the World Tree, right?"
Siyana approached the Hermit with a gentle but sharp smile.
"I don't have the ability to cut souls like Lord Raon, nor the ability to track you like Mage Tower Master Larian. However..."
She raised her hand that shone with a clear green light.
"As the legitimate Guardian of the World Tree, I can reclaim the evil tree's power that you possess."
Siyana formed hand seals with hands that held light clearer than pure sapphire.
"Th, that!"
The Hermit shook his head frantically and tried to end his own life with his hands, but it was already too late.
Paaaaaaaang!
The World Tree branch summoned by Siyana wrapped around the Hermit while emanating bright green radiance.
"N, no!"
The Hermit desperately waved his hands pleading for her to stop, but his body began to dry up like a rice field hit by drought. The World Tree was absorbing the power that had originally been its own.
"Heueeuuk."
The Hermit's power and soul were purified by the World Tree, gradually taking on a zombie-like appearance.
"Keuuu..."
In less than a minute, he became skin and bones and collapsed to the ground. As if he had lost even the power and ability to revive, he lay there blinking only his eyes like a cow.
"Not bad."
Siyana curled the corners of her mouth, seemingly satisfied with the World Tree's power she had absorbed from the Hermit.
"Now let's end this."
After she calmly regulated her breathing and clenched her fist, the solid ground melted like mud and began to bury the Hermit.
Kudeudeudeuk!
The Hermit met an unexpected death with all the bones in his body crushed by the earth's pressure.
"Haaaaa..."
After confirming the Hermit's death, Siyana let out a long sigh and slumped down to the ground.
"It's, it's hard. I'm tired! I just want to go home and sleep..."
She sniffled with a whining tone as if she had never used elegant speech.
"Well done."
Sterin, Guardian of Sepia, came walking out from behind a tree with many branches while clapping his hands.
"This much isn't bad as a Guardian's first step."
He couldn't hide his proud smile as if he was proud of his granddaughter.
"N, no."
Siyana shook her head.
"If Lord Raon hadn't cut the Hermit's soul, I wouldn't have been able to win this easily."
She trembled her hands, saying the World Tree's power absorbed from the Hermit was evil and large, making it difficult to handle even now.
"A sword that cuts souls..."
Sterin let out a hollow laugh as if it was absurd.
"He really has risen to unreachable heights now."
He nodded heavily while watching Raon fighting in the sky above the battlefield.
"Of course! Now even building a library with Lord Raon's autobiography wouldn't be enough!"
Siyana shook her fist, saying it had become difficult to even tell all of Raon's achievements.
"I had a hard time subduing the Hermit whose martial prowess was reduced by more than half, but Lord Raon literally toyed with the Hermit in perfect condition."
She clicked her tongue, saying it was the same as catching the Hermit thanks to Raon.
"I bluffed to pressure the Hermit, but actually controlling it wasn't easy."
Siyana sighed, saying it felt like the Hermit's aura was still rampaging inside her body.
"Should I help? Don't you still have things to do?"
Sterin approached her, saying he would help if Siyana wanted.
"No."
Siyana firmly shook her head.
"I'm the Guardian of the World Tree. I have to handle it myself."
She still had a naive expression, but she wasn't just acting spoiled under blankets like before. Though still immature, she was gradually taking on the face of a Guardian.
"Is that so."
Sterin nodded with a proud face as if he liked such a granddaughter even more.
"If that guy had seen you, he would have been really happy."
He bit his lips slightly as if thinking of someone who couldn't come here now.
"I feel the same way, but Older Brother would have been even happier seeing Lord Raon."
Siyana let out a gentle smile thinking of Older Brother Rimmer who was always smiling after coming from Zieghart.
"He would."
Sterin chuckled thinking of Rimmer who was restless because he couldn't brag about his disciple Raon.
"For my brother's sake, we must win this war for sure."
Siyana nodded heavily while watching Raon continuing his fight against Uriel.
"Since it doesn't seem like there's much left now."
* * *
'Lady Siyana has made her move.'
Raon drew a faint smile as he sensed the disappeared presence of the Hermit.
'The best result came out.'
It wouldn't have been bad for Mage Tower Master Larian to stop the Hermit, but thanks to Siyana moving appropriately, he was able to completely finish him off.
The Death Sword Spirit and Silent Serpent Swordsman had been subdued, and even the Hermit had fallen, so there was no commander leading Eden now. Their martial prowess itself was still strong, but since they were moving like a disorganized mob, it wasn't difficult to face them.
'The same goes for the Angels.'
The Angels too had all their Archangels who should be commanding blocked by demon kings, and the strong Angels had melted into blood by the hands of Envy, the Monarch of Envy, making tactical movement impossible. If the current situation continued, the Five Kings Alliance would be able to win the war without much difficulty.
'Of course...'
-Be careful!
When Raon was about to continue his thoughts, Wrath burst out a warning.
'I know.'
Raon thrust his Divine Sword toward the Crimson Flame sword approaching while melting space.
Jjeoooooong!
The Divine Sword burning with Golden Flame and Apocalypse blazing with Crimson Flame collided, causing a terrifying Flame Storm to surge.
Hwaaaaaaak!
Raon frowned as he watched the red flames roughly pushing against his Divine Sword. Apocalypse seemed to think of Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation's fire as food, surging forward while generating increasingly intense heat.
'Of course...'
Raon exhaled heavily as he looked at Archangel Uriel crumpling his cold eyes behind Apocalypse.
'I have to defeat that monster.'
The power of the second-stage released Apocalypse was strong enough that burning an entire Kingdom with one sword wouldn't be strange. He was barely blocking it, but every time their swords clashed, goosebumps rose and all strength drained from his entire body.
-Do you think that's possible?
Wrath chewed his lips as he watched the battles between demon kings and Archangels exploding throughout the battlefield.
-Not only you, but all of those have to win for this damn war to end!
He frowned as if worried about the swordsmen of Light Wind Palace fighting alongside the demon kings.
'Don't worry.'
Raon narrowed his eyes sharp as a blade as he watched Archangel Uriel's Apocalypse flying toward him with explosive firepower.
'I matched them all with favorable compatibility. Of course...'
He cut through Archangel Uriel's flames that burned more intensely with eyes certain of victory.
'Including myself.'
