The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman
Chapter 1442
Chapter 1442
-You crazy bastard! Really, how far will you...
Wrath was cursing at Raon when he suddenly squinted due to his vision brightening.
"Th-this is..."
Wrath frowned and slowly opened his eyes, then felt something strange.
'A voice?'
His own voice, which should be in spirit form, was flowing out as an actual voice.
"What have you done this time..."
Wrath squinted to adapt to the light.
"This place is... hm?"
A bizarre place where swords flew like birds in the sky and blade seeds grew from the ground. It was Raon Zieghart's mental world that had now become familiar.
"That damn bastard's territory. But something..."
Wrath narrowed his eyes as he examined Raon's mental world.
'It seems different?'
Raon's mental world used to be a colorless and odorless space filled only with swords and swordsmanship.
But now it didn't feel like that. Even though there were more swords and swordsmanship, and various auras were competing, warmth and comfort could be felt.
'Strange.'
Wrath examined Raon's mental world once more with eyes filled with cold energy.
'How can it be so peaceful after going through such things?'
Honestly, he thought Raon's mental state would be greatly damaged from losing Glenn Zieghart, but it was the opposite. It was in a much more stable state than before, to the point where he felt he had worried unnecessarily.
'Besides...'
Wrath looked at the giant Ring of Fire floating in the sky and slowly lowered his gaze to the ground.
'All the auras in this world are also stabilized.'
Starting from the Ring of Fire, passing through Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier, to the demon kings' authorities and even the death aura obtained from Derus Robert.
All the powers that Raon possessed were flowing stably without exception.
'Is this even possible...?'
Wrath let out an empty breath and turned his head.
'To weave all these auras into one?'
Of course, it wasn't perfect yet. Auras that were compatible with each other like Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier, as well as the demon kings' authorities and death aura, were writhing like volcanoes on the verge of exploding.
But compared to the chaos he had felt here before, it wasn't even a drop in the bucket.
"What kind of change exactly..."
It was when Wrath frowned while thinking of Raon's leisurely face.
"Why do you look so gloomy?"
Raon walked out from under the slowly rotating Ring of Fire.
"Hey, you bastard!"
Wrath let out a crude sound unlike his noble appearance and stomped his feet.
"If you're going to summon me here, at least say something first!"
He gritted his teeth saying couldn't he at least give some advance notice.
"If I told you in advance, it wouldn't be fun."
Raon waved his hand while smiling.
"Damn brat..."
Wrath gritted his teeth at Raon.
"You said you couldn't call me a brat anymore."
Raon shrugged while bringing up what Wrath had said recently.
"I take it back! To me, you will always be nothing but a brat!"
Wrath snorted saying he absolutely couldn't accept that.
"Well, that's not bad either."
Raon nodded while smiling.
"Hah..."
Wrath frowned while looking at the relaxed Raon.
"How did you summon me to this place?"
There were many things he wanted to ask, but he questioned the most curious part first.
"I watched Darkan's Soul Sword and copied it."
Raon spun his finger around as if it was no big deal.
"What...?"
Wrath unconsciously opened his mouth with a blank look.
"Th-that's possible...?"
He knew what Darkan's Soul Sword was. A special barrier that forcibly drags an enemy's soul into one's mental world. No matter how much Raon had experienced that technique, he couldn't believe that he could perfectly copy it.
"It's not that difficult."
Raon shrugged saying hadn't he always been good at copying others since long ago.
"Crazy monster bastard..."
Wrath let out an empty breath because he was dumbfounded.
"Fine. Setting that aside..."
He quickly turned his head and glared at Raon.
"Why has this world become like this? I thought it would be full of darkness and gloom."
Since Glenn Zieghart, whom he regarded as more than family, had ascended, it was natural for Raon to change.
But now, Raon's mental world, far from becoming darker, had become stronger and warmer. He wondered what had happened to cause a change that far exceeded his expectations.
"I accepted it."
Raon nodded heavily.
"My weakness and my inadequacy."
At first, he couldn't sleep or eat because he felt sorry to Glenn, who had used up all the time he could have in this world to save his inadequate grandson.
Despair filled his body and mind at the thought that if only he had been a little stronger, if only he had endured a little more, Glenn wouldn't have ascended.
But Glenn's smile that he saw at the end. When he recalled that smile, he thought he shouldn't be wallowing in despair like that.
So he accepted it. His own weakness and inadequacy.
"So a path opened up."
Raon nodded as he looked over his mental world that had regained stability.
"A path to advance to higher places."
He clenched his fist saying that thanks to Glenn, he had achieved the sword and accomplishments that he had only drawn in his head.
"Of course, there are still many shortcomings."
Raon let out a murky breath as he looked at his slightly wavering mental world.
"The Ten Thousand Swords isn't complete, I haven't unified the auras I possess, and the demon kings' authorities and death aura could cause a riot at any time."
He nodded saying he still knew his own inadequacies.
"Besides that..."
It was the moment when Raon let out a murky breath and closed his eyes.
Rumble rumble rumble rumble rumble!
The mental world split lengthwise as crimson malice that emitted vicious heat erupted from underground.
"I also have a desire for revenge against Derus Robert."
Raon clenched his fist audibly saying this was an emotion that could absolutely never be erased.
"However, I'm confident I can accomplish everything. The completion of Ten Thousand Swords, the unification of various auras, the demon kings' authorities and death aura, and even this desire for revenge—I can dominate them all."
He nodded calmly as if he could definitely accomplish it, not just as a simple wish.
"Because I saw the sword that divides the world."
Raon lightly tapped Heavenly Drive hanging at his waist saying he was confident.
"You..."
Wrath's jaw trembled slightly as he looked into Raon's calm eyes.
"You've really changed."
If it were the old Raon, he would have shown a lack of confidence or acted modest. But the current Raon nodded resolutely saying he was confident he could accomplish all of that.
'Now he's...'
Wrath twisted his lips as he watched Raon's desire for revenge sink back underground.
'Really at demon king level.'
He might still fall short of top-tier demon kings like himself, Greed, or Pride, but he seemed to have risen to a level where he could compete with other demon kings.
"Good."
Wrath chuckled.
"What you want from me is a sparring match, right?"
He nodded feeling proud of Raon whom he had watched since childhood.
"Of course."
Raon drew a subtle smile saying what other favor would there be besides that.
"You did beat me once, but that was when I had no reason."
Wrath acknowledged the defeat but twisted his lips saying he couldn't accept it at the same time.
"Then we should fight again."
Raon smiled and drove Heavenly Drive and Wooden Ring Sword into the mental world.
Whoooosh!
The blades of the two swords that were slowly drawn out blazed with flames and frost. Divine Sword and Demonic Sword. He opened his Sword Domain from the start as if he would go all out.
"I'll show you that you're still a brat."
Wrath arrogantly nodded his chin with his elegant fingertips dyed deep blue.
"Then I should prove it. That I'm not a brat..."
Raon pushed off the ground with his toes while raising his Divine Sword and Demonic Sword. He charged straight at Wrath while drawing brilliantly blazing flames and frost.
"That I am the head of house Zieghart."
* * *
The dark sword that hadn't descended even once since coming to the Holy Sword Alliance's Holy Ground tilted toward the ground.
Darkan, the owner of the dark sword and former Leader of the Holy Sword Alliance, steadied his breathing and looked back.
"What brings you all the way up here?"
Darkan slightly raised the corners of his mouth as if he knew who had come to find him despite not being able to see.
"Weren't you busy raising the young ones?"
He nodded his chin as if asking why he had come all the way here.
"Well, I am busy."
It was Raon. He brushed off dust-covered clothes and hair saying he was indeed busy.
"However, there's something that can't be delayed any longer."
Raon faced Darkan saying he had come with a definite purpose.
Darkan raised his chin to discern Raon's intention. Even though he had no eyes—no, because he had no eyes, he slowly nodded as if he could read more.
"I see."
Darkan smiled as if he roughly expected it.
"You want to challenge me to a sparring match?"
He lightly swung his dark sword saying he understood Raon's intention.
"Good. If it's the current you, you'd be a good opponent..."
"It is a sparring match, but not an ordinary one."
Raon shook his head resolutely.
"I'll take the Holy Sword Alliance from you."
He lightly tapped Heavenly Drive saying this wasn't simply sparring to get stronger, but he wanted to stake the Holy Sword Alliance and decide a clear victory.
"The Holy Sword Alliance?"
Darkan let out a short breath and looked at the Holy Sword Alliance village below the mountain.
"Did Rector say he would hand over the Holy Sword Alliance to you?"
"No."
Raon slowly closed and opened his eyes.
"I said I would take it."
Raon shook his head saying it was his own choice.
"In the war against Derus Robert, it would be a great help if Zieghart and the Holy Sword Alliance became one."
No matter how much he and Rector were grandfather and grandson, there was a difference between one person leading one organization and two people leading two organizations. Making the command system unified would allow for more efficient and faster movements.
"The morale would pierce the heavens too."
Raon declared with an arrogant tone that only if he led both Zieghart and the Holy Sword Alliance could he raise everyone's morale to the extreme.
"You've become quite arrogant."
Darkan chuckled.
"However, your words aren't wrong."
He lowered his chin as if Raon's method was correct.
"Good. If it's a legitimate challenge, I have no choice but to accept it."
Darkan nodded, as if also bothered by the fact that he hadn't properly handed over the position of Leader of the Holy Sword Alliance to Rector.
"When will the duel be?"
Darkan gestured to Raon as if to set a date.
"I'm fine with any time..."
"Then let's do it tomorrow."
Raon looked down at Darkan's dark sword with haughty eyes.
"Whether we fight today or tomorrow, the result will be..."
He raised his chin with arrogance beyond confidence.
"The same."
