The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman

Chapter 1499

Chapter 1499 Following the tips of Evelyn's snow-white fingers, a Transcendence-tier magic bombardment rained down, the sky howling as if it would tear apart, and the earth surging up, overturned like a tidal wave. The terrain of the Holy Sword Alliance's sacred ground was being reshaped by her magnificent Mana. Kwagagagagaga! Even as she poured out a terrifying magic bombardment, Evelyn readied a second wave of spells and unleashed them immediately. It was her resolve to definitively finish off The Fallen — the magician and shaman who could pose the greatest obstacle to the Continental Alliance's victory. Hwooooooo! Only after finishing her third wave of magic bombardment did Evelyn withdraw the flickering blue Magic Circles and descend to the ground, where pitch-black smoke was rising. Tak tak! She lightly dusted off her hands as if she'd just finished a chore, and a fierce wind blew in, sweeping away the smoke rising from the ground in an instant. Once the thick smoke cleared, all that remained in the earth was a bottomless hole with no end in sight, like an abyss. "Whew!" Evelyn wiped the sweat trickling down her forehead and smacked her lips. "Beating that sly bastard to death really hit the spot!" She placed her hands on her hips and lifted her chin, looking thoroughly satisfied at having crushed The Fallen. "Now, shall I collect the spoils?" As Evelyn crooked her finger, something glittering began to rise up from within the pitch-black hole in the earth. Tuk! Evelyn reached out and grabbed the light slowly rising up. It wasn't light. It was a broken mask. The mask of a peerlessly beautiful youth that The Fallen had worn on his face was held in her hand, snapped in half. "Ugheeh!" "L-Lord Fallen..." "Impossible! How could Lord Fallen lose to a mere wench like her!" "T-This is a lie. The one who promised to show us the Restoration couldn't possibly lose to a traitor!" The Ghosts of Eden screamed, unable to believe that The Fallen, whom they had trusted, had been defeated by Evelyn, a traitor. "To think she could raise the tier of her Mana that high…." "I-I've never even seen Mana like that…." "It's not just the Mana tier — the sheer quantity of her mana far surpasses Lord Fallen's too." "After tagging along with Raon Zieghart, she's really turned into a monster…." However, a small number of the officers acknowledged that Evelyn's strength was genuine, and swallowed hard as they stepped back. "Raon!" Evelyn called out Raon's name, one hand resting near her mouth. Kuuuuung! Raon was fighting Derus Robert with all his strength and couldn't turn to look back, but he shifted his eyes slightly to glance at Evelyn. "I won! Thanks to you!" Evelyn said she had finished her revenge and shook The Fallen's mask wildly in her grip. "…." Raon didn't answer Evelyn's words, but he gave her a faint smile. "Even The Fallen has fallen!" Burren raised his sword, dripping with black monster blood, and pointed it at the Ghosts of Eden. "Now is the time to annihilate Eden!" He shouted for everyone to strike down the Ghosts of Eden immediately and kicked off the ground. "I've hated those mask-wearing bastards for ages!" Martha burst into hearty laughter and charged toward Eden. Pfweoooom! Pouring her disgust for Eden into the blow, she crushed an officer's helmet in a single strike. "How sneaky…." Runaan, seemingly disliking Eden just as much, frowned and traced out her Snow Flower. "I'll freeze even your filthy souls…." Petals of Frost blooming along her blade bound the ankles of the fleeing Eden members as tightly as iron chains. "Wipe them all out!" "Today is the day we smash every last one of those helmets!" "Let's go! The Sword Sage and the Heavenly Witch are with us!" The swordsmen of the Light Wind Palace didn't miss the opening the officers had created, redirecting their blades — once aimed at the monsters — toward Eden instead. Gathering around Burren, they reformed the Gust Wind Sword Formation and tore apart the Ghosts of Eden before them like sheets of paper. "Whew…." Evelyn watched the Light Wind Palace sweep away Eden, then bent at the waist, breathing heavily. Her face had turned pale, as if she too had expended a great deal of strength fighting The Fallen. "Raon!" Evelyn called out to Raon again. For some reason, she lifted her head with a gravely serious expression. "Mm…." Raon couldn't speak either, but one of his eyebrows had lowered deeply, as if he were worried about Evelyn. "Now…." But Evelyn boldly shouted words that neither Raon nor anyone else present could have expected. "Let's get married!" * * * "Kheuk!" Raon flushed red like someone choking and coughed repeatedly. He was so flustered that the strength nearly drained from his hands. "Marriage, huh…." Derus Robert didn't miss the opening, thrusting his Sword of Beloved Death — its edge of death raised once more — roughly forward. "Congratulations, but since the groom and bride will be dead soon, I suppose you won't need the wedding gift money." He thrust his blade forward, killing intent swirling within it, as if intending to kill both Raon and Evelyn right there. Jjeoooooong! Raon quickly recovered the Focus that had crumbled because of Evelyn, and deflected Derus Robert's thrust with his Divine Sword and Demonic Sword. Even though he'd relaxed his strength to redirect the blow, the impact was so great that his entire upper body shook. -Honestly…. Wrath let out a sigh as he glanced back at Evelyn. -That madwoman is helpful one moment and useless the next! He shook his head wildly, saying Evelyn was going to drive him insane. 'Still….' Raon pushed Derus Robert back with sheer strength, the corner of his mouth curling upward. 'She did well.' In truth, today was the very day it had been decided that Evelyn would face The Fallen. Since her days as Merlin, her soul had been crushed under The Fallen's influence, so he hadn't been able to ask her to fight. But Evelyn had raised her hand first, declaring that she would fight The Fallen herself. Since there weren't many people who could face The Fallen — one of the most cunning among their enemies — she had no choice but to step up, and it was truly fortunate that the outcome had turned out well. -Well…. Wrath glanced back at Evelyn again and smacked his lips. -It wasn't bad, I suppose. He nodded slowly, admitting he had no choice but to concede the point. "I don't need your wedding gift money. Instead…." Raon scoffed as he shoved Derus Robert away completely. "I'll put in a condolence gift for your funeral." He twisted his lips into a smirk, turning Derus Robert's own words back on him. "Seems like you were putting a lot of faith in the Silent Serpent Swordsman and The Fallen…." Raon tilted his chin, glancing in turn at the unconscious, subdued Silent Serpent Swordsman and The Fallen's mask, snapped in half. "Must be disappointing." It wasn't simply meant to mock Derus Robert. Given that he'd entrusted them with important positions and strategies, it was clear Derus Robert had placed a great deal of trust in Eden. "Who knows." Derus Robert wore a relaxed smile, as if the defeat of the Silent Serpent Swordsman and The Fallen meant nothing to him. "Eden holds little significance in my plans." He shrugged, as though he didn't particularly care about the defeats of The Fallen and the Silent Serpent Swordsman. "No, rather, I should say I never trusted Eden, not now nor in the past." Derus Robert shook his chin, as if he didn't trust Eden itself at all. "Look. Even now, the so-called head of Eden is nowhere to be seen." He scoffed, saying the Heavenly Demon wasn't following him. "What?" -Hah? Raon and Wrath both let out a hollow laugh at the same time. "What are you even talking about…." -Isn't that guy actually insane? Both of their faces twisted in disbelief at Derus Robert's nonsensical words. "You stabbed him in the back, and now you're looking for the Heavenly Demon?" Raon furrowed his brow, telling him to say something that actually made sense. "Of course he should come." Derus Robert snorted, as if wondering what the problem even was. "Because I'm the one who can achieve the complete Restoration that the Heavenly Demon and Eden so desperately desire." He let out a mocking laugh, saying that much should have been endured for the sake of the Restoration. "With such a narrow, small-minded temper, unlike me, he couldn't even defeat Glenn Zieghart." Derus Robert nodded his chin calmly, as if to say that unlike the Heavenly Demon, he himself had defeated Glenn. His lips curled upward as he insulted not only the Heavenly Demon but Glenn as well. "You beat my grandfather? While I wasn't looking…." Raon narrowed his eyes, meeting Derus Robert's gaze. "You've completely lost your mind." He scoffed at Derus Robert, who was rambling nonsense as if he'd gone berserk. "No, it's not me who's gone mad…." Derus Robert smiled warmly, then closed the distance like a bolt of lightning and brought his sword down in a strike. "It's this world. That's why I intend to erase this world and open a new one." He let out a chilling laugh, saying that he alone could bring ruin to this world and revive it anew. Jjeoooong! Raon frowned as he blocked Derus Robert's Sword of Beloved Death, imbued with the will of ruin. "The trumpet that calls forth ruin has sounded, so the outcome is already decided." The moment Derus Robert pressed down on Raon's presence, two men rose up from behind him. Pfweooooong! Dranos, the South-North Union Leader who ruled the river connecting the south and the north, charged toward the Continental Alliance with a massive spear that seemed to be formed from the waves themselves. He seemed intent on reducing the Alliance's forces as a whole, rather than targeting its officers. Hwaaaaaaaa! The Black Tower Master, known as the demon king of this age, unleashed demonic energy denser than any Demon's and surged toward Raon like a bolt of black lightning. It was clear his mind was fixed on nothing but killing Raon. However, neither the South-North Union Leader nor the Black Tower Master managed to accomplish what they wanted. Jjijijijijik! The South-North Union Leader's spear had frozen in midair as if stopped, and before him stood a tall, striking beauty with a refreshing air about her. "No matter how long a river is, it can never compare to the sea." The Pirate King, Alice, pushed back the shaft of South-North Union Leader Dranos's spear and lifted her chin. "Let's find out which runs deeper — pirates or water demons!" Alice let out a roar as she struck down against Dranos's spear shaft. "Uwaaaaaaa!" "Follow Lady Alice!" "The King of the Sea sets sail!" "Let's goooo!" Hearing her cry, the sailors of the Azure Wind erupted into a battle roar loud enough to shake the very sea. Kugugugugugu! The Black Tower Master burned with demonic energy and charged madly at Raon, but he only spun in place, like a rat trapped inside a round sphere. "How cute." It was Archmage Chamber of Eternal Flame. She curled her lips as she wielded a spatial spell to trap the Black Tower Master. "I'm your opponent. Don't even think about laying a hand on our young commander." Declaring she would never let him reach Raon, she crushed the Black Tower Master with her spatial magic and sent him crashing into the ground. "Even if you resurrect the dead, even if you summon the angels of heaven down to earth, even if you stab me in the back — it's useless. No matter what you do…." Raon looked down at Derus Robert with red eyes filled with arrogance. "…we'll smash it to pieces." He declared that it wouldn't be him alone, but everyone together who would bring down Derus Robert, and swung down his blade that cleaves through death. Jjeoooook!
