The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman
Chapter 1523
Chapter 1523
Before Raon accepted death and awakened.
"The barrier has broken!"
Six-Headed Scourge let out a gasp of admiration as he felt the Holy Sword Alliance's barrier shatter and darkness descend upon the entire world.
"The Demonic Dragon's seal has finally been broken!"
He burst into mad laughter as he watched the dragon's aura explosively surge.
"And…."
Six-Headed Scourge twisted his mouth and clenched his fist.
"So have I!"
The Day of Black Darkness, which brought darkness to the world, amplified negative energy. As a being who had inherited the soul and power of the worst of monsters, Hydra, directly, his aura was being amplified through the darkness that descended as the Vast Heaven Sword's barrier broke.
"This changes things."
Six-Headed Scourge curled his lips as he felt power overflowing from his body.
"No need to drag this out, I'll kill you in one blow."
He looked at the Light Wind Palace swordsmen surrounding him and stomped his foot down onto the ground.
Kuwaaaaang!
The moment Six-Headed Scourge's foot struck the ground, a shockwave incomparable to before burst out, and the Light Wind Palace swordsmen around him were uprooted and flung backward like trees caught in a typhoon.
"That's it! This is power!"
Six-Headed Scourge wore a deep smile as he watched the Light Wind Palace swordsmen swept away entirely.
"It's not perfect yet, but this much is enough!"
The seal that still restrained his power hadn't been undone. But thanks to the Day of Black Darkness, his power had been amplified enough to give him more than enough might to kill the Light Wind Palace. Moments ago he had been a little surprised by their unexpected martial prowess, but now he was confident he could burst them apart and kill them without difficulty.
"Come."
Six-Headed Scourge turned an arrogant gaze toward the flustered Light Wind Palace.
"If you want to burst and die like insects, that is."
He crooked his finger, as if to say he'd take on as many as they liked.
"Ngh!"
"W-why is our strength suddenly…."
"The barrier's broken…."
"Is the darkness still not over!"
The Light Wind Palace swordsmen chewed their lips in dismay at Six-Headed Scourge's suddenly surging martial prowess. They looked up at the sky where Raon was, as if hoping for help.
But Raon was fighting the Demonic Dragon of Destruction, freed by the broken barrier, so even if they wanted help, they couldn't receive any.
"Don't worry about what's up there!"
Burren shook his head without even turning around, as if he already knew what the Light Wind Palace swordsmen were feeling.
"Focus on the fight in front of you. This is our war!"
He shouted that cutting down Six-Headed Scourge was their job, and stepped into footwork that bloomed with the scent of wind.
"Well said!"
Martha nodded as she circled around to Burren's left.
"Running away in the middle of a fight isn't our way!"
Trusting that Raon would hold off the dragon, she brought her sword down toward Six-Headed Scourge's neck.
"Haaa…."
Runaan exhaled an icy breath and kicked off the ground.
"So as not to shame myself before Raon…."
As if determined to prove herself to Raon, she wrapped Six-Headed Scourge in a swordstrike swirling with cold energy.
"Let's go too!"
"Cover the rear!"
"Never fall back!"
The Light Wind Palace swordsmen maintained the Light Wind Formation, lending their strength to Burren, Martha, and Runaan as they charged at Six-Headed Scourge.
"You vermin!"
Six-Headed Scourge gritted his teeth and stamped his foot, unleashing a mighty shockwave and a storm of cold energy that swept over everything around him.
"Kuaaaak!"
"Gwooohk…."
"H-hold on… kohk!"
The Light Wind Palace swordsmen tried to hold their ground somehow, but unable to withstand the terrifying aftermath of the force Six-Headed Scourge had unleashed, they coughed up blood and were swept back.
Only Burren, Martha, and Runaan, having received the swordsmen's aura, did not retreat.
Bbudeudeudeuk!
Burren's sword drove in swiftly and pierced Six-Headed Scourge's chest, Martha's sword drove down onto his neck, and Runaan's cold energy froze his entire body pure white.
Jjijijijik!
But while the three swords pierced Six-Headed Scourge's skin, they couldn't go any further, blocked partway through.
"This…."
"N-nngh!"
"It's blocked…."
Burren, Martha, and Runaan strained to somehow cut through Six-Headed Scourge's flesh, but their swords wouldn't move even a little.
Wooooong!
Instead, Six-Headed Scourge's skin regenerated, and the force pushing back against the blades was so much stronger that the three of them were pushed back instead.
"This is the difference between you and me."
Six-Headed Scourge tilted his chin up arrogantly.
"Even with my power cut down to a quarter, your swords can't cut me."
He said he'd show them the difference in power and thrust out a clenched fist.
Kuwaaaaang!
From Six-Headed Scourge's fist, swirling waves riding the wind surged up and came crashing down toward Burren, Martha, and Runaan.
"Haaa…."
Runaan exhaled a pure white breath and stepped forward. When she raised her beloved sword, blue frost bloomed and froze solid every last wave that had been about to sweep away the Light Wind Palace.
Kugugugugugugu!
A massive frozen canyon rose up in the Holy Sword Alliance's Holy Ground, formed from the frozen current.
"Ah, right."
Six-Headed Scourge shattered the remnants of Runaan's cold energy still clinging to his body and stepped forward.
"You're a bit different."
He twisted his mouth up as he looked at the wave frozen like a winter waterfall.
"Unlike those vermin, you at least have wings to your name."
Six-Headed Scourge waved his hand, as if to say Runaan was strong but not different enough to matter.
"No! I'm even more different than that fool!"
Martha, hidden within the cold energy Runaan had created, surged in behind Six-Headed Scourge. As if determined to cut him for certain this time, she exploded Titan's Aura and swung her sword.
Huuuuung!
Burren too pushed through the Frost Mist Runaan had created and charged to Six-Headed Scourge's left. As if aiming for a single point, he drove in a sword laced with a bitter wind, fierce and sharp.
"Sorry, but…."
Six-Headed Scourge didn't lose his smile even as he watched Burren and Martha charge in.
"You're still nothing but insects crawling on the ground."
With just two raised fingers, he easily knocked aside Burren and Martha's swords. It was as if his fingers were wrapped not in skin, but in the hardest metal in the world.
"Right."
Burren nodded calmly even with his sword caught.
"I figured you'd catch it."
As he twisted his sword, a northern wind bloomed from the blade's tip and pushed back Six-Headed Scourge's hand.
"Damn helmet bastard!"
Martha twisted her mouth as she looked down at the short Six-Headed Scourge.
"You don't know the weight of my sword!"
As she gritted her teeth and pushed her sword forward, Six-Headed Scourge's hand gripping the blade began to tremble as if being crushed.
Kuwaaaaang!
Burren used the rotational force of his sword to knock away Six-Headed Scourge's hand and, as originally intended, pierced his chest, while Martha bore down on his neck with the weight held in her blade.
Both Burren and Martha broke through Six-Headed Scourge's defense and succeeded in their surprise attack.
But even having taken the two of them's full force, Six-Headed Scourge's body wasn't completely pierced. His body couldn't be split open, as if it were wrapped entirely in blades.
"Damn, he's tough!"
Martha gritted her teeth as she looked at her blade, which would no longer sink into Six-Headed Scourge's body.
"It's not just toughness. There's something sharp about his body…."
Burren frowned at his blade, its edge damaged from cutting into Six-Headed Scourge's body.
"Only now do you notice."
Six-Headed Scourge twisted his mouth, his body clamping down on Martha and Burren's blades and refusing to let go.
"That's right. Aura harder than steel flows through my body. If my seal had been undone, you wouldn't even have been able to drive your swords in at all."
He scoffed, saying it was only because the seal was still in place that they could even cut his skin.
"I'm tired of playing around, so I'll end this now!"
Six-Headed Scourge reached out toward the two of them, frozen in place, as if intending to finish off Burren and Martha then and there.
Wooooong!
With a roar like thousands of bees beating their wings, a shockwave laced with flame burst out toward Burren and Martha.
"Ngh!"
"Kuhk!"
It was just as Burren and Martha, engulfed in the shockwave and flame Six-Headed Scourge had unleashed, were about to be crushed.
"Stop."
"It'd be a problem if you finished this already!"
A bright yellow bolt of lightning fell from the sky, and a silver flash surged up from the ground, striking both of Six-Headed Scourge's arms.
Piaaaaa!
Runaan didn't miss the moment Six-Headed Scourge's body wavered, charging in and driving her sword, radiating cold energy, into his solar plexus. Unlike Burren and Martha's blades, hers pierced through Six-Headed Scourge's unyielding body and drew a spray of blood.
"Tch."
Six-Headed Scourge clicked his tongue and stepped back.
"You lot…."
He narrowed his eyes at the three who had attacked him.
"Calling us vermin at every turn — that's a bad habit you've got."
Warring Steel Leader Trevin rested his sword on his shoulder and rolled his jaw side to side.
"Are you alright."
Mark Goetun turned his eyes, sweeping over Burren and Martha in turn.
"We're alive thanks to you."
Burren rolled the wrist holding his sword, as if acknowledging that he owed his life to Mark Goetun and Trevin.
"That was perfect timing!"
Martha, too, gave Mark Goetun and Trevin a thumbs up, as if praising them for a job well done.
"So there were still more vermin left."
Six-Headed Scourge gritted his teeth, seemingly irritated at having his good moment interrupted.
"Not vermin — we're Light Wind Palace too."
Trevin shrugged, saying he'd simply come from supporting another force.
"From now on, I'll show you the full strength of the Light Wind Palace."
Mark Goetun raised his blade as well, declaring he'd join the battle against Six-Headed Scourge.
"Insects gathering together are just noisy."
Six-Headed Scourge scoffed, as if Trevin and Mark Goetun's appearance frightened him not in the least.
"Even insects come in different kinds."
Burren steadied his breath and tilted his chin at Six-Headed Scourge.
"Our teeth can tear your flesh apart."
He raised his sword, declaring that, insect-like, he'd tear away flesh endlessly until Six-Headed Scourge was dead.
"I'm looking forward to it!"
Martha curled her lips upward, gripping her sword with both hands.
"I wonder what expression you'll make when you're stomped to death by an insect!"
She unleashed Titan's Aura at full power, vowing to crush Six-Headed Scourge to death.
"He looks pretty dangerous, but that's the taste of war for you!"
Trevin nodded firmly beside Martha, as if to say they'd see it through together to the end.
"So as not to shame Lord Raon."
Mark Goetun let out a heavy breath, as if determined to become a subordinate Raon could be proud of.
"We'll join in too!"
Krein nodded vigorously, as if to say he'd fight at the front too, and took a stand beside Burren.
"I-I'm scared, but I'll g-go too…."
Dorian trembled all over in fear, but the hand gripping his sword alone remained firm and unshaking.
"Vermin!"
Six-Headed Scourge, seemingly angered by the Light Wind Palace showing no fear of him, clapped his hands together, flame in his left and cold energy in his right. The moment his hands met, the most destructive shockwave yet spread out in every direction.
"Let's go!"
"We have to hold him back!"
"Protect the officers so they don't have to spend their strength!"
The Light Wind Palace swordsmen, of their own accord, stepped forward to block Six-Headed Scourge's shockwave so that Burren, Martha, and Runaan wouldn't have to spend their strength. Even as they were violently thrown back by the tremendous force, they didn't break formation and held on to the end.
"Hey."
Martha's chin trembled slightly as she watched the scene.
"This isn't really the moment, but do you see something shining over there?"
She narrowed her eyes, saying something seemed to be shining between the Light Wind Palace and Six-Headed Scourge.
"I see it."
Burren nodded, looking at the same spot as Martha.
"I don't know exactly what it is, but something's shining in the gap between the Light Wind Palace and Six-Headed Scourge."
He, too, clicked his tongue against his palate, as if sensing something unknowable, just like Martha.
"You two have that light as well…."
Runaan bowed her head slightly, looking not at Six-Headed Scourge but at Burren and Martha.
"No, it started from you two."
She closed her eyes and opened them again, as if she knew the true nature of the sensation Burren and Martha had felt.
"I suppose the time has finally come…."
Runaan drew a faint smile, barely noticeable, as if she had been waiting a long time.
"It started from us?"
"What time are you talking about?"
Burren and Martha, unable to understand what Runaan meant, looked at each other.
"The time to break through the wall."
Unlike her usual languid tone, Runaan finished her words firmly.
"And the time to win."
