The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman
Chapter 1529
Chapter 1529
"Raon Zieghart."
Pride, the Monarch of Pride, stood before Raon with the corner of his mouth twisting upward.
"This king's excitement hasn't faded yet."
Even though he had literally burst Archangel Michael apart, he still seemed to overflow with strength as he raised a fist blazing with Pride.
"You'll have to be this king's opponent until this heat dies down."
Pride was bleeding all over his body from Michael's sword strikes, but he wore a smile blooming with fighting spirit, as if he could keep fighting.
-T-this crazy....
Wrath's chin trembled as he looked into Pride's eyes.
-This bastard is serious! He really means to fight!
He gulped hard, sensing that Pride truly wanted to fight Raon.
-R-Raon! You need to wake up!
Wrath urgently called Raon's name, but he showed no reaction at all, as if still lost in the State of Enlightenment.
However, even though he had entered the mental world, his eyes and breathing remained alive, so to others he seemed to still be present in reality.
-That bastard might really strike out of nowhere!
Wrath shook his head fiercely, saying that Pride was insane and there was no telling what he might do.
"Raon Zieghart?"
Pride's brow furrowed slightly.
"Can you not hear this king's words?"
His eyes flared with irritation, as though he thought Raon was ignoring him. Even though it was Raon, he didn't seem to consider that he might have fallen into the State of Enlightenment in a situation like this.
-Ngh....
Wrath's chin trembled as he noticed Pride's eyes twist.
-That bastard is about to start again!
True to his title as the Monarch of Pride, Pride always had to be the center of attention. Once, during a past Monarchs' Conference, when the other demons' attention shifted toward him, he immediately demanded a duel and smashed the conference hall apart.
-Should this king go in and stop him?
Wrath bit his lip as he looked at Raon.
-No, that would be too dangerous.
Since Raon's soul had gone to the mental world, his body was practically empty now, so entering it wouldn't be hard.
However, the moment he took over Raon's body, a spiritual problem was bound to occur, so he couldn't act rashly.
"Raon Zieghart."
Pride took another step toward Raon, clenching the fist that had turned Archangel Michael into a handful of blood.
"It doesn't matter if you don't answer. This king's excitement has already returned."
He burned with fighting spirit, seeming ready to fight even if Raon didn't accept the challenge. It was truly an attitude befitting the Monarch of Pride.
-Damn it! Someone....
Wrath quickly looked around, searching for someone who could save Raon.
But with victory so close at hand, everyone was focused on the fighting, and few people were watching Raon. On top of that, since Pride had dealt with Archangel Michael, not a single person suspected him.
-Damn it all!
Wrath grabbed his head as he realized there was no way out.
"I'm coming, Raon Zieghart."
It was the moment Pride, as if he'd waited long enough, threw a punch at Raon with a fierce smile.
Woooooong!
A sea-blue dimension opened and caught Pride's fist head-on as it flew toward Raon.
"You...."
Evelyn's eyes flashed with a cold, sharp gleam from behind the dimension.
"What are you doing?"
Even with the Monarch of Pride standing before her, she didn't hold back, openly showing her anger and irritation.
-T-the mad woman!
Wrath let out a gasp at Evelyn's sudden appearance.
-That's right! There was the mad woman!
He nodded fiercely at Evelyn, the only one who had read Pride's emotions.
"You are...."
Pride narrowed his eyes, as if he too hadn't anticipated Evelyn's appearance. Her stealth and tracking abilities seemed to work even against the Monarch of Pride.
-She's spent her whole life startling this king, and now she's finally doing her job!
Wrath applauded Evelyn for appearing after fooling even Pride.
-But be careful. That bastard shows no mercy to humans who don't meet his standards.
He bit his lip, hoping Evelyn would earn Pride's recognition.
"I'm Raon Zieghart's girlfriend. No, his lover. No, his wife!"
Evelyn puffed out her chest proudly even after changing her title three times.
-Haah....
Wrath grabbed his head, watching Evelyn instantly lighten the heavy atmosphere.
-That woman is useless right to the end....
He let out a deep sigh, saying it was a mistake to have trusted Evelyn.
"In other words...."
Pride turned the hand he'd aimed at Raon and looked at Evelyn instead.
"You mean a leech."
His eyes flashed coldly as he dismissed Evelyn as trash. He seemed to think of her not by her own merits, but as a parasite clinging to Raon.
"Get lost."
It was the moment Pride, as if he'd lost interest in Evelyn, reached out a hand infused with Pride to push her away.
"No, that's wrong."
A pink mist bloomed from behind Evelyn's back and pushed Pride away instead.
"You're the one who should get lost."
It was Lust, the Monarch of Lust, emerging as she cleared away the pink mist. She stood before Pride as if guarding Evelyn, tilting her chin.
"Lust?"
Pride's eyes narrowed slightly at Lust's sudden appearance.
"Why are you here? The Law of Causality allotted to you should already be exhausted."
His brow furrowed as though he couldn't understand it.
"That goes for you too."
Lust tilted her chin as she looked at Pride.
"The Law of Causality you have was stolen from Envy. It already ran out the moment you killed Michael."
She waved her hand, saying this was no time for Pride to be acting up like this.
"It ran out?"
Pride let out a hollow laugh as he looked at Lust.
"Something like the Law of Causality can't stop this king. Whether it ends or not is entirely this king's decision."
He muttered words no demon king should be able to say, claiming he didn't care about the Law of Causality at all.
"You really are insane."
Lust let out a hollow laugh, looking exasperated.
"You're completely different from our Wrath. I think I understand now why no one follows you."
She scoffed as she compared Wrath and Pride.
"Don't compare this king to some street thug."
Pride's eyes darkened to pitch black.
"Because this king could kill you here too."
He raised his hand, saying he might kill Lust first before fighting Raon.
"Do you think dealing with just me will be enough?"
Lust smirked and lowered her hand, and behind her, Dimensional Gates of differing colors opened one after another.
"Let me sleep a little...."
The first demon king to appear was Sloth, the Monarch of Sloth.
"Can't we just go back...."
He yawned so wide his mouth seemed about to tear, wrapped in the blanket Raon had given him, as though he'd come straight from sleeping at the edge of the north.
"Grrgh...."
Envy appeared, grinding his teeth as though furious at having his Law of Causality stolen by Pride.
"I wanted to fight too...."
He bit his lip, seeming frustrated that he'd been unable to do anything in either the previous war or today's.
"I'm hungry, but...."
Gluttony, the Monarch of Gluttony, who appeared third, clutched her growling stomach.
"I have to protect my friend...."
His eyes flashed red like a rabbit's as he declared he would protect Raon from Pride.
"So many fools have gathered here, ones who've only received the title of demon king without the qualifications to match."
True to his name as the Monarch of Pride, Pride sneered, disdaining even the other demon kings.
"Though you're the surprising one, Greed."
His eyes narrowed at Greed, who had appeared last, as though he couldn't dismiss even the Monarch of Greed.
"Because I made an investment."
Greed raised a finger with a friendly smile.
"It'd be troublesome if my investment went up in smoke before I got my returns, wouldn't it?"
He shrugged, saying he'd given Raon too much to just let this happen.
"I merely wish to vent my excitement on Raon Zieghart."
Pride shook his head, saying he had no intention of killing Raon.
"Has anyone ever survived the Monarch of Pride venting his excitement? I recall they were all destroyed."
Greed rolled his eyes, noting that almost no one had survived fighting Pride.
"If you want to fight, fight later. This friend of mine isn't in a normal state right now."
He tilted his chin, asking if Pride hadn't seen him deal with Derus Robert and the Demonic Dragon of Destruction.
"I saw it. Most impressive. He was someone this king had no choice but to acknowledge, race aside."
Pride nodded solemnly, taking up Greed's words.
"Then fight later...."
Sloth waved his hand as he yawned.
"You're both hurt anyway...."
He smacked his lips with half-closed eyes, asking why they wanted to fight now.
"No."
Pride shook his head firmly.
"It's precisely because it's now that I want to fight."
He raised his fist, saying that thanks to Raon today, his excitement and fervor had risen, and he wanted to fight right now.
"Our opinions just won't converge."
Greed let out a sigh.
"Then I suppose we've no choice but to fight. Against us."
He summoned a scale behind his back, as if determined not to let Pride fight Raon.
"If it's a fight against you, there's no need to spend the Law of Causality either."
Lust drew her sword, raising the Authority of Lust as if ready to give it a try.
"I don't want to... really...."
Sloth frowned and protested that he didn't want to, but threw off his blanket and rose anyway.
"Give me back my Law of Causality...."
Envy glared at Pride, grinding his teeth to vent his grievance.
"Ahem...."
Gluttony popped a hidden bead ice cream into her mouth and looked at Pride, as though hoping they wouldn't have to fight.
-T-this....
Wrath's eyes darted between Pride and the other demon kings.
-This doesn't look good at all.
He gulped hard, as though he could already see what was coming.
"Ha!"
Pride let out a hollow laugh at the five demon kings standing before him.
"Surely you don't think this king will go back to the Devildom just because you lot try to stop him."
He grabbed his head and burst into mad laughter, as if utterly dumbfounded.
"That's a huge misunderstanding!"
Pride lowered both hands, wearing a fierce smile like a beast of prey.
"Because this king will trample all of you, and then fight the Raon Zieghart hiding behind you."
He nodded, his eyes burning with a dark red madness, as if he had become even more delighted.
"You really are insane."
"Is Pride making a move again?"
Seeing Pride's fighting spirit, the demon kings tensed as well, smacking their lips and drawing up even greater Aura.
Gwoooooooo!
It was an explosive situation on the verge of collision between Pride and the five demon kings. Terrifying Authorities were about to clash from both sides.
"A-Awakening!"
A voice like a scream rang out from someone on the ground.
"Lord Raon is currently in a state of enlightenment! He can't respond right now!"
It was Dorian. Overwhelmed by the absolute Aura pouring off the demon kings and seemingly gripped by fear, he shouted at the top of his lungs even as tears and snot smeared his face.
"Awakening?"
Pride looked at Raon behind the demon kings upon hearing Dorian's words.
"He's undergone an Awakening?"
Greed too narrowed his eyes and turned to look at Raon.
"Huh?"
"Ohh!"
Pride and Greed both let out a gasp at the same time. Both of them had only now sensed that Raon was lost in the State of Enlightenment.
"So that's why he didn't answer."
Pride let out a hollow laugh, saying he hadn't known at all since Raon's eyes had remained alive.
"That's right. How could he undergo an Awakening in a situation like this?"
Greed burst out in amazement, saying that despite his long years of life, he'd never seen anyone undergo an Awakening in such a manner.
"Hey, you Pride thug."
Lust called out to the flustered Pride.
"So? Do you still feel like fighting?"
She tilted her chin, asking if he'd still throw a punch at Raon even in his Awakened state.
"No."
Pride lowered his hand and shook his head.
"My excitement has faded."
He clicked his tongue, as if he had no intention of fighting an opponent who couldn't resist.
"Though I'd like to face him next time. Whether this king's excitement will return by then, I can't say."
It was the moment Pride spoke vaguely, as if unsure whether a fight with Raon would ever come to pass.
"You don't have to wait until next time."
A voice rang out from behind the demon kings, firm yet also tinged with warmth.
"I'm ready even now."
It was Raon. Having already emerged from the State of Enlightenment, he beckoned with his hand, wearing a smile even more arrogant than Pride's own.
"Pride, Monarch of Pride."
