The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman
Chapter 1533
Chapter 1533
"The last thing to do..."
Sylvia narrowed her eyes slightly, as though she'd read some special emotion contained in Raon's words.
"The last thing you have to do?"
Dorian blinked upon hearing Raon's words.
"Is there still something left to do?"
He tilted his head, wondering if the war wasn't already completely over.
"Hey! You idiot!"
Krein ran over and rapped Dorian on the head.
"We have to clean up! Look at this mess!"
He gestured with his hand, saying they needed to clean up the river of blood and the corpses covering the Holy Sword Alliance's sacred grounds.
"We definitely can't just leave it as it is."
Burren sighed as he looked around the sacred grounds.
"It feels less like sacred ground now and more like a land of death."
He sighed, saying they needed to deal with the corpses as well, not just the river of blood.
"It's simple, isn't it."
Martha waved her hand, saying it wasn't a difficult task.
"Just carefully gather our allies' bodies and give them the finest funerals, and burn all the enemy corpses. Isn't that all there is to it?"
She kicked the Angel corpse lying at her feet, asking what there was to even worry about.
"Silly Martha…."
Runaan sighed as she looked at Martha.
"That's... not a good idea...."
She shook her head, saying that shouldn't be done.
"Huh?"
Martha tilted her head at Runaan.
"What's wrong with it! Are you saying we should give them all funerals too?"
She frowned, telling her to say something that made sense.
"There's no need to hold funerals for all of them, but burning them isn't a good choice either."
Evelyn wrinkled her nose as she looked at the Revenants and the dead, who let off Death Energy even in death.
"Those things are carrying Death Energy within them, so burning them as they are will have a bad effect on the continent."
She clicked her tongue, saying that since the Revenants and the dead were already dead, burning them wouldn't make that energy disappear.
"It's the same with the Angels. Those pigeons were born with Divine power that isn't a force native to this world, so that too will have a bad effect."
Evelyn waved her hand, saying the Angels' corpses shouldn't be dealt with carelessly either.
"The problem is there are a ridiculous number of them. If it were a few hundred, burning them like that idiot said would be fine, but it's well over ten thousand."
She let out a heavy breath, saying that burning over ten thousand corpses at once could even damage the world itself.
"Damn Derus Robert!"
Martha stamped her foot as she spat out Derus Robert's name.
"Why is that bastard causing trouble even after he's dead!"
She shouted that Derus Robert was the one person she couldn't stand, even in death.
"Um, excuse me...."
Krein raised his hand.
"What kind of bad effect are we talking about?"
He smacked his lips, curious what it meant for a bad effect to be created in the world.
"The most representative example would be natural disasters."
The answer came not from Evelyn, but from thin air.
"Typhoons, droughts, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions—the kind that have never existed in this world—will occur."
Archmage Chamber of Eternal Flame opened a dimensional rift and stepped out, a red candy in her mouth.
"T-that's not all."
Mage Tower Master Larian, who emerged alongside Chamber, let out a sigh.
"M-monsters with power on an entirely different level from the ones we know could be born. What's commonly called a King's vessel."
Larian shook her head, saying the Death Energy and demonic energy spread across the continent could merge into one and create an unprecedented monster.
"B-but Lady Chamber, how can you eat a red candy like that in a place like this?"
She shook her head, thinking it impressive that Chamber could eat red candy in a place like this.
"That kind of wicked power grows firmer and stronger the more it gathers. There's no guarantee another Demonic Dragon of Destruction, one humanity's strength can't overcome, won't appear again."
Chamber picked up where Larian left off, nodding gravely. She seemed to think the Demonic Dragon of Destruction had been created the same way.
"And what does the candy have to do with anything! It just tastes good!"
Chamber scoffed, saying it wasn't blood-flavored but strawberry-flavored, so it had nothing to do with anything.
"T-then how are we supposed to deal with it? Please tell us quickly!"
Dorian shook his head frantically, as though a new Demonic Dragon of Destruction appearing was absolutely not an option.
"We'll have to purify them."
Evelyn raised a finger and drew a circle in the air.
"Not just their bodies, but their very souls have been dyed with evil. Only purification can erase even that malice."
She nodded, saying that only by performing the Purification Ceremony could the malice of those corpses be kept from staining the continent.
"Huh?"
"Purification?"
"If it's purification...."
At Evelyn's words, everyone gathered there turned their eyes toward Holy King Hoppen and Saintess Olga standing behind them.
"Purification is our specialty!"
Hoppen's voice rose, seeming pleased to be receiving the attention of the continent's strongest.
"You idiot!"
Olga gritted her teeth and pinched Hoppen's back.
"H-how long would it even take to purify all that! Even at the low end it's well over ten thousand!"
She twisted the pinch of skin she held, asking if he'd truly lost his mind and telling him to think it through.
"Even if it's not ten thousand but over a hundred thousand, we must do it. They're pitiable souls, after all. And besides...."
Hoppen didn't lose his smile even as Olga pinched him.
"If not us, then who would do it?"
He smiled benevolently, saying that as king of the Holy Kingdom, he didn't want to show the world a shameful side of himself.
"Ugh...."
Olga lowered her pinching hand as she looked at Hoppen's face.
"Do as you like."
She shook her head, seeming to think she had no choice but to accept it after seeing Hoppen's smile.
"The Holy King, huh...."
Greer, the new king of Owen, let out an exclamation as he watched the scene.
"I heard he hasn't been on the throne long, but he's clearly different."
He nodded solemnly, seeming impressed by Hoppen's gentle dignity.
"Kuhahahaha! Splendid!"
Beast King Ogram burst into a booming laugh, apparently pleased with Hoppen's attitude.
"We'll help too! We have a tribe that specializes in purification magic to pray for the repose of the dead!"
He extended his hand, saying he would call for the tribes specialized in soul-calming magic.
"If you're willing to help, we'd be grateful!"
Hoppen bowed his head to Ogram, saying he wouldn't refuse the goodwill.
"Lord Raon! Please leave the rest to us!"
He nodded to Raon, asking him to entrust the aftermath to them.
"Thank you."
Raon bowed toward Hoppen, who smiled without a trace of worry, and Olga, who let out a sigh.
"However, there's no need to perform the Purification Ceremony right now."
He shook his head, as if to say that while he truly appreciated the goodwill, the Purification Ceremony wasn't necessary.
"What...?"
"W-weren't we going to purify them?"
Olga and Hoppen's eyes went wide at Raon's words. The two of them tilted their heads, curious about his intentions.
"Head of House! What have you been listening to this whole time!"
Krein ran up to Raon and shook his head vigorously.
"They just said a huge problem will happen if we don't purify them!"
He swallowed nervously, saying they needed to purify quickly for everyone to survive.
"I know."
Raon chuckled and pushed away Krein, who had crowded in too close.
"Purification is important too, but that's not the last thing left to do."
Raon said nothing more, even under the curious gazes of everyone around him.
-What is it! What now!
Wrath pounded on Raon's shoulder, telling him to spit it out already.
"You have a way to deal with those corpses without needing purification, don't you?"
"No, maybe he's going to announce something...."
"Raon...."
Martha, Burren, and Runaan also smacked their lips as they looked at Raon, curious as well.
"Ugh! I'm dying of curiosity! Just tell us already!"
Krein thumped his own chest, saying he was dying to know the reason behind Raon's words.
"You'll find out if you just wait a little."
Raon only told them to wait, even under everyone's curious stares.
"It's always been that way."
Sylvia smiled faintly as she looked at Raon, who wasn't giving an answer.
"You've always had your own thoughts about things."
She nodded and stepped back, as if to say she would trust Raon no matter what he did.
"Then I'll trust him too!"
Sia raised her hand as well, saying she would trust Raon no matter what, just like Sylvia.
"Well, family's got nothing to do but trust each other."
Edgar patted Raon's shoulder lightly, saying he felt the same way.
"Mother! You think the same way I do!"
Evelyn hugged Sylvia tightly, saying she too trusted everything about Raon, just like Sylvia did.
"We trust him just the same!"
"Well, we're just curious, that's all."
"Whatever it is, it's fine... because it's Raon...."
Martha, Burren, and Runaan each thumped their own chests, saying they trusted everything about Raon too.
"Following the head of house's path is the role of the family."
"Kuhahaha! Nephew. No, head of house. Do whatever you need! I'll clear the way!"
"If the young head of house tells me to go, I can drag a ship across dry land!"
Karoon, Balder, and Alice raised their hands as well, saying they would follow Raon no matter what he did.
"We trust you too!"
"We'll follow whatever Lord Raon does!"
"We'll follow you even at the cost of our lives!"
Not only the Light Wind Palace Swordsmen but the Zieghart swordsmen as well raised their swords in salute, declaring they would stand with Raon.
"Then...."
Raon slowly opened his mouth as he took in the sight.
"Everyone, please stay right here. Don't run away, no matter what."
He nodded lightly, as if to say there was nothing they needed to do.
"Because you'll all get to see something very entertaining soon."
Raon smiled gently, telling everyone that all they had to do was stay still.
-Again! Again! Again! You brat! Quit with the riddles and just tell me straight!
Wrath screeched, saying he was sick of this already.
"To put it simply, the Day of Black Darkness isn't over yet."
Raon looked up at the sky and spoke, as if giving an answer to Wrath and the others who couldn't contain their curiosity.
"Because now isn't the time for the sun to rise."
