The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman

Chapter 1549

Chapter 1549 A thunderous roar that shakes heaven and earth erupts from Zieghart, now left in ashes. It was not the sound of a war for destruction, but the sound of ground being tamped down to build a new Zieghart, echoing across the entire north. The one clearing away the remnants of the Authority of Destruction lingering on the cold earth, foremost among them all, was the new head of house, Karoon Zieghart. As if determined to keep his promise to erase the Authority of Destruction before anyone else, he never rested for a moment, cutting away the Demonic Dragon's curse buried beneath the main building. It would not be an exaggeration to call him the busiest swordsman in Zieghart right now. There was, however, one more person moving just as busily as Karoon. "Someone help over here!" "My hammer broke — do you have a spare?" "We're way short on lumber!" "We need to finish the foundation work today, but we're short on lime powder!" The workers building on the land cleared of the Authority of Destruction requested supplies or materials without even turning around, and before even ten seconds passed, the items they wanted had already appeared in front of them. "Thank you!" "That was fast!" "That guy's got a knack for this work!" "Isn't he more suited to our line of work than swordsmanship?" "Sword God Raon Zieghart's right arm really is something else." The builders who received what they needed nodded in thanks, impressed, but the person who had delivered the materials to them had already left for somewhere else, leaving only a breeze behind. "The Sword God's right arm?" The worker holding the hammer widened his eyes. "That guy was Sword God Raon Zieghart's right arm?" He let out a disbelieving breath, as if he couldn't believe it. "That's news to me too. Isn't the Sword God's right arm Light Wind Palace Master Burren Zieghart?" The worker with a beard hanging down long like a chain tilted his head. "I thought it was Miss Rakshasa, Martha Zieghart? She's always the one fighting at the very front." The worker with a nail held in his mouth narrowed his eyes. "You're all wrong. The Sword God's right arm is the Full Moon Fairy, Runaan Sullion! That woman followed the Sword God around like she'd become his shadow!" The worker, who had gulped down water roughly enough to soak his shirt, snorted that Runaan was Raon's right arm. "No." The worker who had first brought up the topic of Raon's right arm touched his bald head and shook it firmly. "The Celestial Rain Star Burren Zieghart who became the Light Wind Palace Master, Martha Zieghart who went from the Light Wind's captain to the True Martial Palace Master, and Runaan Zieghart who became the head of house of the Sullion family were all comrades the Sword God trusted most. However..." (E/N: I think author screwed up in this line but I can't prove it) He tossed into the air the hammer the Zieghart swordsman had handed him a moment ago, then caught it again. "Dorian Sephia." The bald worker curled up the corner of his mouth as he watched Dorian, the baby-faced swordsman, coming back this way. "After this war ended, that man, known as the one who reads hearts while holding all things, became the Sword God's true right arm. He hasn't left his side for even a moment since their trainee days." He nodded his chin firmly, declaring that Dorian was the true right arm of Raon Zieghart. "Ohh!" "That innocent-looking swordsman was the Sword God's right arm!" "You really can't judge people by how they look." "Reading hearts while holding all things? Does that mean he carries everything and reads people's minds?" "That explains it! He kept bringing exactly what we needed without us even saying anything! I was even thinking of recruiting him to our side!" The workers let out exclamations of admiration as they watched Dorian bustling about, their view of him changed now that they knew the truth they hadn't known before. "But…." The worker with a scar on his face gulped down a dry swallow. "Are we even allowed to be ordering around the Sword God's right arm like that?" He trembled his chin as he looked at the nails and hammer he'd received from Dorian. "O-oh, right? His face is so young, I thought he was just one of Zieghart's laborers." "Aren't we going to get in serious trouble for this later?" "That could really happen! Swordsmen usually have no shortage of pride!" The workers' spines went cold on hearing Dorian's true identity, and their faces turned pale. "M-maybe we should apologize right now…." It was just as the oldest of the workers, an old man, swallowed dryly and tried to stand up. "It's fine." A man with narrow, slanted eyes and orange hair approached from behind the workers. "Y-you are…." "A-are you an executive of House Zieghart?" The workers trembled their lips, growing even more tense at the sight of Krein's refined white face and the ornate sword sheath at his waist. "No need to worry about me. You can keep ordering that guy around all you like. He's a pervert who feels joy whenever someone needs him." It was Krein. He let out a sigh, as if he himself couldn't quite understand Dorian either. "That one would actually be happy if you called on him all day long, so don't worry about it — use him however you like." Krein waved his hand, telling them to call on Dorian and use him freely, as if he were Dorian's own master. "Oh, well then, some thick nails over here…." "Could I get some of that water over there?" "My stomach's a bit empty." The workers, hearing Krein's words, told Dorian what they needed once more, and before they had even finished speaking, Dorian had already left the needed items behind and vanished off toward yet another direction. "D-did you see that? He was smiling while he handed over the water!" "He bowed to me and wished me well with the work!" "Zieghart really is nothing but extraordinary people!" The workers nodded, marveling at how remarkable Dorian was, something they hadn't known before. "Hey." Krein frowned at Dorian as he came back after having just left. "Why are you working so hard? You're making me look bad by comparison!" He tilted his chin, asking why Dorian put so much effort into chores that could be left to others. "It's easier if I do it myself. It's faster too." Dorian smiled and shook his head. "Besides, when I'm doing this, no thoughts come to mind at all. If anything, good memories come back instead." He said that whenever he looked after others, fond memories from before came back to him, and he chuckled before disappearing again. "Haa…." Krein let out a sigh as he watched Dorian's smile. "I suppose it's still too soon to forget. Same goes for me." Dorian was clearly trying not to think about Raon's departure, and yet, by looking after others, he was plainly recalling his memories with Raon instead. Even without the Mind's Eye, Dorian's feelings could be felt just as they were, and it made the heart ache a little. "He really is the one who reads hearts while holding all things! His way of thinking is on a whole different level from the other swordsmen!" The bald worker nodded his head broadly, as if impressed with Dorian. "Um…." Krein clicked his tongue briefly and took another step closer to the workers. "You've been calling that guy the one who reads hearts while holding all things this whole time. What does that even mean?" He lowered his chin slightly as he looked at the bald worker who had called Dorian that. "Doesn't Lord Dorian carry all kinds of things with him while reading people's minds? In keeping with that, we've been calling him by the epithet 'the one who reads hearts while holding all things,' meaning a swordsman who holds all things while resolving people's troubles." The bald worker drew a faint smile, saying it was an epithet that suited Dorian well. "Really? I've got an epithet now?" Dorian, who had approached without anyone noticing, let out an exclamation upon hearing his own epithet. "The one who reads hearts while holding all things — that's an epithet that fits me perfectly!" Saying he was glad they'd come up with an epithet for him, he handed the bald worker a drink before dashing off to the other workers. His movements grew even faster, as if he were truly delighted. "I-I wasn't the one who made it up…." The bald worker blinked blankly as he looked at the drink in his hand. "Even if someone comes up with an epithet, it's only complete once the public starts calling him that…." He shook his head, saying he hadn't been the one to coin Dorian's epithet, but that the public had made it up themselves. "So other people made it up! That's even better, isn't it?" Dorian came right back up to the bald worker and nodded promptly. "Did you hear that! I've got an epithet now too!" He gave the nearby Krein a light nudge, then vanished off in another direction again. "H-hey, mister!" Krein frowned and grabbed the bald worker's shoulder. "What about me! Don't I have an epithet?" He bared his white teeth, demanding that the worker tell him his epithet right away. "U-um, your name…." The workers mumbled, glancing at each other, as if they didn't even know Krein's name. "You don't know me? I'm Krein of the Light Wind Palace, who always swung his sword first to open the path for the Sword God! If that Dorian bastard is Sir Raon's right arm, then I'm the left arm!" Krein ground his teeth, demanding how they could know Dorian but not know him. "K-Krein?" "First time I'm hearing that name." "W-Well, the famous ones in the Light Wind Palace are Sir Raon, Sir Burren, Lady Martha, and Lady Runaan, so..." The workers scratched their heads and looked away, as if they didn't know Krein's name at all. "Grrgh…." It was just then that Krein's face turned red as if about to explode. "Ah!" The bald worker let out a small exclamation, as if he knew something. "There is! Krein of the Light Wind Palace! You have an epithet attached to you too, Sir Swordsman!" He nodded, saying he had heard that an epithet had been made for Krein as well, following Dorian's. "I knew it!" Krein burst out laughing as he looked at the bald worker. "That idiot Dorian got an epithet, so of course I should have one too! Tell me quickly!" He wagged a finger at the worker, telling him to hurry up and say his epithet. "Go—" The bald worker wet his dry lips with his tongue and opened his mouth. "Go? The Lonely Sword Fanatic? The Noble Sword? The Elegant Demonic Sword? The Heaven-Reaching Sword Emperor? The Lofty Supreme?" As if his anticipation were about to burst, Krein licked his lips, coming up with impressive-sounding epithets starting with "Go" all on his own. "Default Krein…." As if too embarrassed to say it to his face, the bald worker opened his mouth while looking off into empty air instead of at Krein. "W-well, there's a rumor going around that you're always the first one Lord Raon calls out, so you've come to be called Default Krein." He swallowed dryly, saying that the story of Krein always being called out first by Raon had even spread outside their circle. "D-default? Default Krein…? That damn word spread all the way out there…?" Krein ground his teeth so hard it made a grinding sound, as if he simply could not accept that epithet. "It's all because of that damn brat Raon!" He screamed up at Raon in the heavens, as if enraged that the epithet he'd so longed for had turned out to be "Default Krein." "Ah!" The bald worker snapped his fingers upon hearing Krein's roar, loud enough to shake the sky. "T-there's one more! Another epithet for you, swordsman!" He shook his head, saying Default Krein wasn't the only epithet there was. "R-really? There's another one?" Krein blinked as he looked at the bald worker. "There is! I definitely heard another one! Go—" The bald worker nodded his chin and brought up the syllable "Go" once again. "Go? Another one starting with Go? So is it the Lonely Sword Fanatic? The Noble Sword? The Elegant Demonic Sword? The Heaven-Reaching Sword Emperor? The Lofty Supreme?" Krein, his anticipation swelling up again, drew in a sharp breath and rattled off the epithets he was hoping to hear. "Public Disturbance Krein! They said you're a swordsman who terrifies enemies by yelling at them non-stop!" The bald worker drew out his explanation at length, as if trying his best to spin it into something positive. "P-public disturbance, as in yelling to threaten the enemy?" Krein's eyes went dull and glazed over, like a rotten frozen pollock. "That's just a public menace, isn't it!" He screamed that he'd rather have had Default Krein after all. "Where are the bastards who came up with my epithet! I'll kill every last one of them! Get out here, all of you!" As if to prove his epithet of Public Disturbance true, Krein screamed at the top of his lungs, grabbed the bald worker by the collar, and started a ruckus. "Ugh…." Dorian shook his head slowly as he watched Krein screaming. "That guy really never changes. If only Young Master could still smack him upside the head like he used to…." He looked up at the sky, thinking of Krein, who had always been the first one Raon called out and sent tumbling across the ground. "But don't worry." Dorian pulled his hand out of his belly pouch and stepped into his footwork, moving toward Krein. THWACK! He surged forward like a bolt of lightning and struck the back of Krein's head with his sword sheath, right as Krein was grabbing and shaking the workers by the collar. "Guh, you, you little…." Krein, having been struck square on, trembled his eyes just as he had back when Raon used to pop him one, and then collapsed. "Y-you too, if you heard the epithet Public Disturbance, you'd get angry…." As if wronged and furious, he brought up the epithet Public Disturbance one last time before passing out. "I'll be the one to beat that guy up from now on." Dorian looked up at the sky as he slid back into his belt the sword sheath that had just cracked against the back of Krein's head. "Rest easy and ascend, Young Master. And…." As if the tears he'd been holding back were finally flowing, he sniffled and brought his sleeve up to his eyes. "See you again. For sure." (E/N: Needless to say, I had no energy to make sure the word play made sense)
