The Reincarnated Assassin Is a Genius Swordsman

Chapter 1492

Chapter 1492 Kugugugugugugu! Fire Spirit King Ifrit and Water Spirit King Elayim had originally descended to the mortal world at roughly the size of an Ancient Dragon, but perhaps because they had balanced the spirit realm, they had now grown to a size not inferior to the Demonic Dragon of Destruction. The war halted for an instant before the transcendent pressure radiating from Fire Spirit King Ifrit and Water Spirit King Elayim, and the Demonic Dragon of Destruction standing against the two of them — no one could even breathe. "Fire Spirit King Ifrit and Water Spirit King Elayim…." Derus Robert murmured the names of the two Spirit Kings, his lips trembling faintly as though he had never imagined such a thing. "It's a Spirit King!" "Woahhhh!" "The Sword Sage has summoned a Spirit King!" "The Continent's victory has drawn one step closer!" "Don't fear the Demonic Dragon — fight!" The martial artists of the Continental Alliance cheered, believing that the Spirit Kings Raon had summoned would hold back the Demonic Dragon of Destruction, and turned their focus back to the battle before them. "Kkeuh!" "A, a Spirit King…." "R-Raon Zieghart can even summon a Spirit King!" "Just how far does that man…." "This is going to be a difficult war." Meanwhile, Derus Robert's forces, feeling the pressure reversed against them, blocked the martial artists of the Continental Alliance who charged at them wrapped in the Fangs of Insanity. "Don't tell me, that time's…." It was the moment Derus Robert recalled something and raised his head. "Brotheeeeeeer!" Fire Spirit King Ifrit turned back and waved his hand. "Thank you for calling me!" In a flippant tone utterly at odds with his colossal body reaching the sky and his absolute presence, he bowed his head, calling Raon "brother." "My heart beats for you, brother! I'll go with you even to hell!" Fire Spirit King Ifrit babbled words fit for a street thug and raised his two fists, ablaze with Crimson Flame, above his head. "Ifrit." Raon smiled back, as if answering Ifrit's laughter. 'You really came.' The one who had sent the signal with Crimson Flame before the war was Ifrit, who was now up ahead holding back the Demonic Dragon of Destruction. The moment he had balanced the spirit realm, he had come straight to Raon and conveyed his wish to fight alongside him. 'I'm grateful.' No matter how much talent and ability he had to summon a Spirit King, having one trust and follow him like that was an entirely different matter. He bowed his head to Ifrit, who trusted him completely, as a gesture of gratitude. "Haaaaa." Unlike her gentle and benevolent face, Water Spirit King Elayim let out a deep sigh and pressed a hand to her forehead. "Honestly, you alone bring shame to the entire spirit realm. No matter how many times I tell you, that flippant way of speaking never gets fixed…." She shook her head as though embarrassed by Ifrit, a fellow Spirit King. "R-Lord Raon! It's been a while!" Siyana, the Guardian of Sepia, bowed her head to Raon. Behind her, the Guardians who protected Sepia approached with bows and swords raised. "You've grown even more striking. You look more like an elf than that fool Rimmer." The former Guardian Sterin smiled and nodded at Raon. He seemed to be seeing Rimmer through Raon, showing a smile mixed with gladness and bitterness. "Thank you. For coming all the way here." Raon nodded toward Siyana and Sterin, paying no mind to Derus Robert. Besides the two of them, he also sent a nod of greeting to Erian and Leylan, with whom he had formed a bond in Sepia. "O-of course we had to come! When we can fight alongside Lord Raon!" Siyana nodded fiercely, as if she would be content to die right there. In her arms, what appeared to be a new volume of 'The Biography of Raon Zieghart' swayed, glinting in the sunlight. -T-that thing is still coming out? Wrath's jaw dropped as if he found it absurd. -Why doesn't that book ever end! When on earth is it going to be finished! He ground his teeth, saying it truly made no sense. 'It'll end soon.' Raon looked back at Derus Robert and gripped the Divine Sword and Demonic Sword tightly. 'Because my fight ends here.' He curled his lips, resolving to end it all by cutting down Derus Robert and the Demonic Dragon of Destruction. "P-please leave the Demonic Dragon of Destruction to me and the Spirit Kings!" Siyana pressed her trembling lips firmly shut, saying that she, Elayim, and Ifrit would hold back the Demonic Dragon of Destruction. She still stammered, but her eyes had hardened with resolve, befitting the Guardian of Sepia. "That's right! I'll snap that chicken-head's neck myself!" Fire Spirit King Ifrit spewed Crimson Flame from his entire body. "Brother, you just handle that pathetic bastard!" He pounded his own chest, declaring he would fight until he died. "I don't want to work together with that fool, but there's no helping it." Water Spirit King Elayim sighed and gazed at the Demonic Dragon of Destruction with clear, transparent eyes. "Because if we can't stop the Demonic Dragon of Destruction, it will affect our spirit realm too." Declaring she would fight in earnest, she raised Moon Water, imbued with moonlight, above her palm. "Please, I'm counting on you." Raon bowed his head to Siyana, Ifrit, and Elayim, entrusting the Demonic Dragon of Destruction to them, then turned his gaze to Derus Robert. -Do you think those three can defeat the Demonic Dragon of Destruction? Wrath clicked his tongue briefly, as if doubtful. 'No.' Raon shook his head firmly. 'They can hold it back to some degree, but they can't take it down.' Even seeing it with his own eyes, he honestly found it absurd. Even with two rulers of the spirit realm and the Guardian of Sepia gathered in one place, the Demonic Dragon of Destruction's martial prowess felt far greater still. 'On top of that, the Demonic Dragon has a special ability.' The flames of destruction the Demonic Dragon possessed had the power to burn even the souls of other beings and turn them into Revenants, so no matter how powerful the Spirit Kings were, they couldn't easily withstand it. Even with Siyana's support, there was a high chance Ifrit and Elayim would eventually run out of strength while holding back the Demonic Dragon. 'In other words, while those three hold the Demonic Dragon back….' Raon steadied his breath, raising the Divine Sword overhead and drawing the Demonic Sword back at his waist. 'I have to kill Derus Robert.' If it was Ifrit, Elayim, and Siyana, they could buy enough time even against the Demonic Dragon of Destruction, so in that time he had to cut down Derus Robert and also sever the Demonic Dragon's head. -You're brimming with confidence! Wrath smirked, saying it was an absurd amount of confidence. 'It's not confidence — I just have to do it.' Raon shook his head heavily. He had no confidence to speak of. It was simply something that had to be done, and he had only decided to do it. "Impressive." Derus Robert let out a hollow laugh, watching the Spirit Kings facing off against the Demonic Dragon of Destruction. "Honestly, I didn't expect you to be able to summon a Spirit King." He nodded slowly, as if he hadn't considered this possibility. "I should have remembered that you summoned a Spirit King back in Sepia. I suppose I'm getting old too." Derus Robert clicked his tongue briefly, as if regretful. "Then since you're old, how about you die to my sword?" The instant Raon told Derus Robert to die, his body vanished. Hwoooong! The place Raon reappeared was behind Derus Robert's left side. He swung his sword down faster than light, as if to sever the enemy commander's neck with a single strike. Jjaaaaang! As though he had sensed Raon's presence, Derus Robert turned back without the slightest delay and blocked the blade of the Divine Sword as it came down fiercely. Jjijijijijik! Raon frowned, his sword still locked against Derus Robert's. 'Derus Robert. This bastard….' At first he had been flustered by the descent of the Spirit Kings, but his eyes no longer held any particular worry. 'Does he really have a countermeasure?' Derus Robert had said he'd prepared a countermeasure, anticipating that Raon would call others to his side — and true to his word, he showed no sign of impatience even with the Demonic Dragon of Destruction held back by the Spirit Kings. "Having a Spirit King stand behind you is certainly an impressive feat. And with them being the Spirit Kings of fire and water, no less, nothing could be more fitting. But…." Derus Robert narrowed his eyes and drew a deep smile. "A mere two Spirit Kings cannot reverse a result that has already been decided." He nodded his chin calmly, as if dismissing the rank of the Spirit Kings. "Because the real war starts from here." It was the moment Derus Robert pushed back Raon's Divine Sword with his sword, condensed with death. Kuwaaaaaaang! From the ground where the Ghosts of Eden stood, a pitch-black tree trunk thicker than a person's torso surged up, drawing a massive circle. Jjijijijijijik! From within the massive hole formed by the tree trunk, black waves surged up, and from within came the stench of blood and fierce howls. Paaaaaaang! The black waves shattered like surf crashing against rock, spewing out pitch-black-skinned Orcs from within. No, not just Orcs. Large land monsters like Trolls, Ogres, and Ettins appeared, along with sea monsters such as Sharkmaw, Krat, and Mantacoon that dwell in the ocean. But every single monster, without exception, had its whole body dyed black, as if it had been dipped in ink. -Those things…. Wrath narrowed his eyes as if he sensed something. 'Right. Their Fighting Spirit isn't normal.' Just as Wrath sensed, those monsters were different from the ordinary monsters of the Continent. The energy that felt as though Derus Robert or the Fallen had taken special measures was on an entirely different level from the others. "That tree is called an Effigy Ghost, and it has the power to call surrounding monsters to it." Derus Robert twisted his lips as he looked at the black tree. "Though thanks to the Fallen's modifications, it can now call monsters from across the entire Continent." He added the explanation as though boasting about the Effigy Ghost. "A war is only fun when it turns into chaos." As Derus Robert pushed Raon back with the Blade of Requiem and spread both arms, those beside him scattered across every corner of the Holy Sword Alliance. Kugugugugugu! The Angels rose into the sky bearing spears imbued with Divine power, the Ghosts of Eden drove the monsters forward to push back the reinforcements, and the remnants of the Five Demons moved to find opponents on whom to unleash their pent-up killing intent, following their revived masters. "The banquet of kill or be killed begins." Derus Robert twisted his lips upward as he watched the battlefield begin to burst with blood. Just as he said, it seemed a war where everyone would kill or be killed had begun. "Light Wind Palace!" Without falling for Derus Robert's provocation, Raon called out to the Light Wind Palace. "Destroy that tree!" Having grasped that the most dangerous thing on the battlefield right now was the Effigy Ghost calling monsters, he immediately gave the order to the Light Wind Palace. "Light Wind Palace, follow the Head of House's command!" "It's finally begun! Let's go!" "Mm…." Burren, Martha, and Runaan charged ahead toward the Effigy Ghost, and behind them the swordsmen of the Light Wind Palace followed, stirring up fierce winds. Kugugugugugu! When the Light Wind Palace, said to be the strongest on the Continent, moved with a single purpose, the monsters and Ghosts of Eden before them were swept away without resistance, like sand before a wave. Kuwaaaaaang! But the wind of the Light Wind Palace failed to reach the Effigy Ghost and was deflected. Burren, Martha, and Runaan too staggered backward, as if overpowered. Ddeureureureu! The sword of the serpent-helmeted man standing before the Effigy Ghost trembled like a rattlesnake's tail. It was the Silent Serpent Swordsman. The Ghost of Eden harboring the soul of the Transcendent-class monster Hydra clicked his tongue. "Tch." The Silent Serpent Swordsman swung his sword roughly, as though displeased. "To think I have to block things like that..." He furrowed his brow as if irritated, but rolled his eyes slightly, seemingly relieved it wasn't anything dangerous. "Foolish. Do you really think I'd leave that important Effigy Ghost undefended?" Derus Robert tilted his chin, saying he had of course left defensive forces behind. "I stationed a very important figure there for its defense." He glanced back at the Silent Serpent Swordsman and chuckled. "You know, don't you? If you kill the Silent Serpent Swordsman…." "Then the worst and strongest monster, Hydra, will awaken." Raon let out a low breath and finished Derus Robert's sentence. "If you know that, then it would be wise to just leave the Effigy Ghost alone." Derus Robert curled his lips as though it were checkmate with no way out. "I knew you'd come at me like this…." Raon smiled back at Derus Robert's smile. "We've got something prepared on our side too." He turned back with a heavy gaze. "It's your turn." "Ha…?" Derus Robert followed Raon's gaze and his eyes went wide. "Raon! You've finally lost your mind!" The moment he saw the person standing behind Raon, he couldn't hold back and burst into laughter. "The Bear Fire Demon? You're going to defeat the Silent Serpent Swordsman with that vermin?" Derus Robert sneered as he watched the Bear Fire Demon, standing awkwardly while wearing the Bearwolf mask. "Ugh…." The Bear Fire Demon groaned, seemingly struggling to endure even just being looked at by Derus Robert. "Now that I've lived as a human, I understand." Raon twisted his lips as he thrust the Divine Sword toward Derus Robert's neck once more. "That blood is thicker than water." He swept aside Derus Robert's presence and struck down with the Demonic Sword. Hwaaaaaaang! The cold energy of the Demonic Sword froze not Derus Robert, but all the monsters and Ghosts of Eden that had tried to block the Bear Fire Demon's path. "L-Lord Raon!" Feeling that the force restraining him had completely vanished, the Bear Fire Demon let out a gasp of admiration toward Raon. "Go." Raon opened the path for the Bear Fire Demon toward the Silent Serpent Swordsman, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Go and show him a father's greatness."
